There are two very popular events that highlight the Symphony's season calendar:
The Festival of Trees
The largest fund raising event for the Western Piedmont Symphony is the "Festival of Trees Celebration and Gala." The Gala is hailed as one of the most beautiful and enjoyable evenings of the Christmas season! For approximately three weeks the Arts & Science Center of Catawba Valley is adorned with beautiful, professionally decorated, one-of-a-kind trees and wreaths. Visitors to the Symphony, the Catawba Science Center, the Hickory Museum of Art, the Hickory Choral Society, and the United Arts Council will see the sponsored trees and wreaths. This event provides valuable support for the many concerts and outreach programs for the Symphony throughout the area.
Family Outdoor Concert
Once a year, the Western Piedmont Symphony offers a Family Outdoor Concert that is free to the public. WPS strives to showcase not only the Symphony Orchestra, but the Youth Orchestra and other local musical talents as well. The concert is normally held on a Sunday afternoon at the Arts & Science Center of Catawba Valley.
